For local employers, Our City Business Skills department specialises in employer-based training. Our Skills Advisers are your designated contacts, offering advice and guidance on all your training requirements. Our aim is to help you understand your training options by understanding your business needs. We offer a personalised service so that we can work with employers and their staff in a way that suits you.
Our team at City College can visit you in the work place to provide free Training Needs Analysis to identify areas of improvement. We will provide appropriate solutions which best meet the needs of your business, including Short Course Delivery or Apprenticeships. We can spend time looking into available funding opportunities for your training needs, allowing us to provide a free bespoke service that aims to work with you to develop a highly skilled workforce within your organisation. City College offers a range of Full-time vocational courses, BTEC Nationals, First Diplomas, NVQs and Higher National Diplomas. As well as the traditional start time of September for enrolment, some of our courses accept admissions at different times of the year. There are many positive reasons to return to learn on one of our part-time courses and with such a wide range of courses to choose from, you can learn during the day or in the evening to fit in with your lifestyle. At City College, you can choose from a wide variety of part-time courses which could change your life. Whether it is Art, Business, Catering or Engineering, from Entry level to Foundation Degree, City College can provide the training you need to succeed. As well as NVQ and BTEC qualifications, we also offer Access courses to help you return to education, as well as Basic Skills courses to improve your employability and quality of life.
Apprenticeships are work-based learning programmes which incorporate several different qualifications, including a National Vocational Qualification and a technical certificate. Whether you're interested in being an apprentice carpenter, electrician, hairdresser or chef, City College can put an apprenticeship in place for you. Our assessors will come out to your workplace at times agreed with your employer and you'll attend City College part-time to learn the theory underpinning the job. You therefore learn while working to build your knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and experience. There are different levels of Apprenticeship available, but they all lead to nationally recognised qualifications tailored to meet industry standards. Apprenticeships can now be taken at any age from 16+.
City College has many years experience of delivering Higher Education (HE) and has consistently attracted positive feedback from external examiners. The College provides HE programmes that blend academic and work-related learning and aim to equip you with the knowledge and skills to pursue your career and/or further study.
Have you always wanted to go on to University, but do not have the qualifications? Our one year Access courses will allow you to progress to University, improve your academic skills and increase your self-confidence in your learning ability. Our Higher Education department benefits from the skills and experience of tutors who have gained professional experience and have years of teaching experience. As a College we are very lucky to have this dedicated team who will be working with you whilst you are studying with us. We are also very privileged to have outstanding teaching facilities. If you are studying on the Photography FdA for example, you will be using top-of-the-range Apple Mac's, dark rooms, printing facilities and industrial scanners. Our Music Production FdA students will benefit from the hands-on experience our studios and performing space allows you.
The College's HE courses are validated by the University of Brighton. This means that the college students enjoy access to many of the facilities and services of the University. Located within the heart of Brighton, the College also provides an ideal base for the HE students to engage with employers and industry, as well as with the rich cultural and social life of the city.
City College is the largest provider of adult community learning opportunities in the city and now has one of the largest number of locations across the city where you may take advantage of a learning opportunity. Whether its learning a new language or improving your IT skills, studying an adult education course is not only a great way to learn a new skill that can boost your CV but is also a confidence booster, giving you the opportunity to meet new people and improve your health and wellbeing. We work closely with our fellow providers in the city and also our community partners to ensure that the courses we are delivering are the courses you are asking for. 14-16 Vocational Courses

Courses for Learners with Learning Disabilities
As you know, changes in funding last year meant some last minute good news that our courses were free for most of our students. This year all the information that we’ve received so far is that this will continue.
