A superb opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer to join one of the UK's leading instrumentation development companies. This is a brand new vacancy following the award of a major new contract to develop a number of high technology instruments for the Space & Satellite industry. Responsibilities: Technical and Project Management of space hardware projects. Hands-on design and analysis covering mechanical, thermal and electrical performance Support and develop other project engineers / work package owners Generate all required technical documentation Technical oversight and support for all MAIT activities Report to and coordinate with customers including major European space and aerospace companies. Support business development activities, helping to bring in future projects and generally contribute to the broader development of the company. Requirements: An Engineering Degree (1st or 2:1) in a technical engineering discipline. A strong working knowledge of appropriate subsystem & instrument design activities, including: Mechanical engineering to ECSS standards, including: thermal, structural, materials Systems engineering to ECSS standards, including technical requirements specification, verification and testing One or more standard design tools (e.g. Pro-E/CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCad, Catia) Mechanical & thermal analysis tools (e.g. Nastran, Patran, ESATAN, Cosmos, ANSYS) A general working knowledge of general good working practice in parts, materials and processes Basic electrical/electronic principles covering harnesses, sensors, connectors, thermometry. Ability to generate large amounts of high quality project documentation quickly. General Information: This is a full time position, initially on a 2-year fixed term employment contract.
