Job Description for a Senior Systems Engineer Overview Chess Dynamics Ltd is a UK company that provides cutting-edge electro-optical surveillance systems to major defence contractors, with both land and sea applications. We have built up an excellent reputation for innovation, strong customer focus and market awareness over the past 23 years; and due to significant growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team. The Senior Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for the following: - Take a leading role in multi-discipline technical projects - Produce end to end system solutions, cost-effective and low-risk designs compliant with customers' requirements, through-life design, capable of onward implementation and support by the company - Maintaining position as systems knowledge expert. - Proficient delivery of systems solutions in accordance with established contractual obligations and company process and procedures (Design Review, Configuration Control, System Acceptance and Documentation). - Working closely with the wider engineering team to manage design changes and solve problems on complex systems. - Provide technical architecture functions for bids and projects. - Support business development activity for new proposals and tasks. - Work with customers to assist integration, commissioning and problem resolution activities - Identify and mitigate risks within the design and development process - Work closely with other business functions as part of project delivery (Engineering, Operations, Sales, Quality & Project Management). - Provide a versatile engineering contribution across the company business Requirements for the position: - The successful applicant will have many years' experience within the defence engineering sector and be comfortable at a technical and commercial level. - You will be able to write technical requirements and design documents, scope of work, survey reports, technical presentations, acceptance and migration plans. - Knowledge of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle as well as delivering a project cradle-to-grave. - You will be a self-starter, able to liaise with internal and external staff at all levels, with excellent communication skills. - Due to the nature of this position, you must be willing to travel worldwide.
