(1 x permanent, 1 x 12 month maternity cover) £19,238 - £30,480 pa - 37 hours per week Horsham We are looking for a Planning Officer to join the Strategic Planning team where you will contribute to planning for both the urban and rural environments in the District. You will play an active role in shaping the attractive and affluent area between coast and capital which faces a key challenge of maintaining the District's unique character whilst bringing forward a prosperous future.    Planning in Horsham has a dynamic role in delivering the District's vision of a vibrant place to live, work and visit.  We have recently adopted our new local plan, the Horsham District Planning Framework, which provides the basis to implement the Council's vision for the District through a number of exciting projects including a Site Allocations document, CIL and a number of significant site allocations for major development. As Planning Officer you will help prepare the Site Allocation document and provide advice and guidance on strategic planning issues both within the Council and to members of the public. Your key responsibilities will include: Undertaking surveys, site appraisals and studies to inform the production of Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents Preparing necessary reports and policy documentation Providing policy advice to Development Management colleagues and applicants To succeed as Planning Officer you must have competence in a variety of IT systems and packages, plus the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative. You must also have: A relevant degree or equivalent and a recognised planning qualification (or equivalent through experience) Good numerical skills and attention to detail Good time management and organisation skills. High level communication and presentation skills particularly concerning complex or controversial issues.
