Head of Procurement UK
Elekta Group operates a centralized category and business driven procurement function operating across four main direct material countries: situated in UK/Netherlands/Sweden/China, and 3 indirect regions Americas, Europe and China/APAC. The Procurement function is structured as a matrix organisation with centralized leadership for Direct Purchasing/ Indirect Purchasing/ Supplier Development & Quality, Process & Systems and the Local Management in each of the regions for direct and indirect material. The Head of Procurement will directly manage the Direct Material Buyers/SQA/SDE/NPI and Engineering Change procurement resources as applicable for their site. Whilst ensuring that sufficient resource is made available to support the development and deployment of effective Category Management. The purpose of the role of Head of Procurement is to establish and run the procurement site in line with the wider business strategy, budget and directives. Manage resources in the relevant Solutions area to ensure supplier performance adequately meets business requirements in terms of quality, availability, and cost effectiveness whilst respecting regulatory requirements. Qualifications BA required with MBA preferred; other graduate degree potentially acceptable or equivalent work experience Demonstrable work experience within the Strategic Purchasing field, involving technically complex products in an international environment Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification desirable Experience of Category Management and cross-functional international cooperation Experience of product development of technical products and usage of product data systems Competence in production technologies and processes, material characteristics and production tools Competence in quality systems and quality assurance of technical components at suppliers' Competence in MS Office programs, ERP-systems and database interfaces Engineering background and/or Engineering qualifications relevant to the medical equipment industry (desirable) Good planning/project management skills - able to develop comprehensive workable issue sets in complex situations Strong negotiating skills, in order to manage the relationship with other functions within the company and suppliers Able to gain a fact based understanding of current supplier base, supplier economics and major trends in relevant markets Distinctive leadership - willing to make tough/unpopular decisions, but well respected by internal and external business leaders. Comfortable with conflict - willingness to challenge “conventional” thinking Demonstrable record of delivering stretching targets and successfully managing concurrent tasks Able to work and lead in a dual reporting matrix environment and aggressively take the lead on implementation of savings opportunities that affect numerous lines of business Ability and competence to manage, build and develop individuals and teams Strong business acumen and understanding of the business structure of global groups Fluent in English, verbally and in writing. Responsibilities Establish and drive the Procurement strategy, annual business plan and expense budget with focus on: Direct Purchasing, New Product Introduction, Supplier Quality Assurance, Supplier Development and Engineering Change, as applicable to each site. Responsible for meeting local savings in lines with the global strategic category strategy. Contribute to the global category strategy and ensure that site specific requirements are represented Capture local stakeholder interests and local business needs Ensure Supplier Agreements, in line with Elekta standards, are in place for all critical suppliers. Ensure supplier performance meets the requirements for the business Perform relevant supplier meetings and supplier follow up meetings Ensure external supplier audits are performed in accordance with the audit schedule and incoming inspections are performed where required for products Inform relevant functions of results from Quality Control activities Ensure participation in the creation of new products including Supplier Selection in order to meet the overall responsibility of the department Ensure representation for Procurement in management meetings Plan and control the work distribution including all tasks given to Procurement Act in line with all Elekta values, policies, quality system and other regulations Member of the IBE & PMA Management Team [SWE] Member of Elekta Instruments AB Product Core team and Program Steering Group [SWE] Take an active role in Elekta global processes, tools and methods development within Procurement, the supplier related items of PCP and PMP Direct or delegated responsibility as Local Process Owner in accordance with IN1594 for the following processes defined in EIAB79_2: Supporting Processes: Supplier Management, Non-Conformance Handling, Product Data Management, Tools and Test Equipment Manage and develop staff capabilities (competencies, knowledge, skills and experience) within the function so as to meet the business needs and long term development of the Elekta organization. To review the performance, training and development needs for staff on a regular basis and create and deploy plans optimize the capabilities of staff. Ensure the strategy of the Procurement department is cascaded successfully to direct reports and that their objectives effectively reflect the focus areas and direction of the department. Work closely with others in leadership positions to ensure your direct reports are focused and prioritizing effectively. Monitor the workloads of staff to ensure these remain balanced and do not conflict with other focus areas for the team. Ensure local communications are cascaded to dotted line reports who may be managed from a different location Work closely with other Leadership positions to ensure objectives are communicated clearly to staff and that workloads remain balanced and objectives do not conflict with other focus areas.
