MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - CONTRACT 6-12 Months - CRAWLEY West Sussex ROLE OVERVIEW Working within a team providing mechanical design of multiple platform environments from Marine to Airborne. Operating within multi-functional project/product team undertaking mechanical design of complex, high performance sub-systems in short timescales using advanced engineering tools - those in use include Pro/Enginee/ CREO 2, Flotherm CFD and Pro/Mechanica FEA. Key Tasks for the role are; The theoretical assessment of the design and its associated requirements to ensure that equipment performance requirements are met, including structural, dynamic and thermal analyses. Support the project engineering team - liaise with, and support other disciplines. Report on progress Comply with local and company processes and procedures (supported by the Thales Engineering team) ESSENTIAL SKILLS / ROLE REQUIREMENTS Relevant design experience in a similar field with a good understanding of computer techniques a Pro/Engineer CREO 2 user. Proven ability to undertake structural and thermal analysis, ideally using FEA (Pro-Mechanica) and CFD tools (Flotherm). Working knowledge of MoD procedures and specifications. Seasoned in the design of equipment for military environments eg 19†racks, cardframes, modules, and antennas. Designing for shock, vibration and EMC. Good knowledge of materials and finishes for harsh environments. Design of composite structures ADDITIONAL SECURITY REQUIREMENTS WE SEEK AN ENGINEER WHO HAS WORKED IN A MILITARY / DEFENCE ENVIRONMENT / INDUSTRY WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS OR WHO IS CAPABLE OF OBTAINING SECURITY CLEARANCE (SC LEVEL MINIMUM)
