A leading IT client of Synergize are currently looking for a Systems Support engineer to work in their busy office based in Crawley, West Sussex. The successful candidate will have the following experience. Required experience and skills General skills required This role is very much a hands-on role. Regular face-to-face user interaction will be required and the following skills are a required asset: - IT Helpdesk experience - Planning and implementation - Excellent customer facing experience - Excellent telephone manner - Good documentation and record keeping - Decision making - Good keyboard skills Desktop/Laptop Skills & Experience Essential - Microsoft desktop operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows 10) - Apple Mac OS X - Microsoft Office (2010 through 2016) - Hardware fault-finding and diagnosis - PC building and upgrading (eg hard drives, memory upgrades etc) Network Skills & Experience Essential - Thorough understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, switches, ADSL routers - Network design principles - Network and connectivity troubleshooting (including software firewalls) Beneficial - Patching - RJ45 cable assembly - Experience with Windows dial-up VPN - Experience with site-to-site VPNs - Experience with Palo Alto or SonicWALL VPN clients - Network Attached Storage devices (and/or Storage Area Networks) Desirable Server Skills & Experience - Experience with Microsoft Windows server operating systems (2003, 2008 R2, 2012 R2) - Microsoft Active Directory principles (user accounts, security groups, file/folder permissions) - Creation of Microsoft Exchange mailboxes - Thorough understanding of DHCP and DNS - Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange online and Office applications) - Network security principles - Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy - Multi-site Active Directory topologies - SSL certificates - Microsoft Exchange email routing and troubleshooting - Experience with Backup software (especially Veeam and BackupExec) - Experience with VMware technologies
