Lead Financial Analyst/Project Accountant
My client a fantastic organisation located in Crawley, West Sussex for an experienced Project Accountant/Financial Analyst. This role is responsible for the project financial accounts, investigating variances against forecast and budget and reporting to the project board and key stakeholders. Main responsibilities Lead in the preparation of all project cost financial reporting for the projectAccountable in the production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, being proactive in offering support and challenge to the budget holders.Lead in the preparation of appropriate monthly cost reports including performance against budget/forecast for use by the Exec team, Project Board and other internal stakeholders. Ensure a clear audit trail of Change Requests is retained and analysed by change driver.Monthly analyse the Project accounts and explain variances to forecast, ensuring that variances are fully understood and reported on a timely basis.Accountable for accurate and timely resource cost reporting including budgets and forecasts by workstreamResponsible for the delivery of periodic and ad hoc finance data to the Project Board, management information and performance reporting which measures financial performance against the agreed plans, leading to a detailed understanding of delivery performance by key stakeholdersLead in ensuring that all costs are properly recorded in accordance with relevant accounting standards.Forecast costs of Project Stages at their planned end, and/or the milestones in the company financial control calendar. Reports on these forecasts, both in predetermined formats and/or ad-hoc as determined by the Project Manager and FinanceEnable delivery of efficient and robust project and Forecast processes through appropriate planning, communication and co-ordination across multiple stakeholdersResponsible for proactively identifying enhancements needed to project financial accounting and reportingDevelop and refine processes working with SAP systems and developing resilient Excel models as required.Maintain highly effective working relationships with key stakeholders through pro-active engagement, helping to break-down silos and ensuring two-way knowledge share Looking for an individual who has/is; Professional accountancy qualification or part qualified accountant ( ACCA) with solid month end close and management accounting experience Strong experience of working within financial control and reporting cycles on projects Project Management experience Experience of applying baselines; an understanding of why change control is necessary and how to implement it. The ability to demonstrate how change control can apply to the time, cost, scope and quality dimensions of a Programme or Project. Strong problem-solving skills and proactive nature in applying them Strong SAP Accounting System Knowledge Proven relationship management with strong influencing / negotiation skills Strong numerical, modelling and analytical skills, combined with the requisite IT skills (MS PowerPoint / Excel) Self motivated and able to work on own initiative to meet the requirements and deadlines of the role Results-oriented, with the ability to focus on what needs to be done, occasionally at a cost of imperfection in the methods employed to do it. Ability to manage the delegation of work and the assimilation of the output of a team in order to deliver to quality and time.
