About the Mainframe Network Systems Programmer (Mainframe, Programmer) role: The role being recruited here is that of a mainframe Network Systems Programmer who would have responsibilities in the area of mainframe network communications, to include TCP/IP support, EE support, EDI support, product installs and maintenance, as well as problem resolution and troubleshooting. Customer support requires that those filling this position are additionally on-call outside of normal working hours to resolve issues and customer support calls. This position also requires that the person filling it will work U.S. business hours in support of U.S. based customers. REQUIRED SKILLS of the Mainframe Network Systems Programmer (Mainframe, Programmer): • Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent work experience. • 5 years experience on the zSeries (mainframe) platform including “hands on” technical experience (installation and maintenance of products) related to VTAM, TCP/IP, OSA configurations, FTP, EDI, and OEM product support. • Thorough working knowledge of IP configurations, IP routing and EDI products, as well as the use of IBM's SMP/E and OSA/SF. • Knowledge of network hardware (including Visara devices, BARR system, 317x and 37x5), and hardware configuration. • Strong analytical skills and understanding of mainframe network concepts and configuration. • Self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations. • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentations Main Responsibilities of the Mainframe Network Systems Programmer (Mainframe, Programmer): • Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to network software products and configuration of applicable network hardware. • Provide primary support for reported problems related to both IBM and OEM / ISV network software products. • Provide support for troubleshooting and resolution of problems related to mainframe connectivity. • Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis and in multiple time zones. • Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to Wipro best practices (for productivity/scalability purposes) • Work with members of other functional towers in preparing customer partitions for regular (approximately once every 2 years) operating system upgrade process via a checklist of proactive actions. • Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to network software products. • Assist the assigned project manager (from the PMO - Program Management Office) in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date. • In joint cooperation with the Manager of Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans. • Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages Wipro's resources and allows timely implementations. • Follow change control procedures for all of the following, adhering to ITIL practices: • Implementing vendor product specific corrections (“fixes”) and • Upgrading, maintaining, enhancing or providing new options to applicable z/OS products within any given customer partition.
