About the CICS Database Systems Programmer (Mainframe, CICS, JAVA) role: Senior level team member with skills in Websphere Application Server (WAS) Network Deployment, CICS TS, and Websphere MQ (MQSeries), to include system programming support, version migration support, installation, configuration and maintenance on the zSeries platform This individual must have experience with z/Series hardware, zOS operating systems, and associated operating system software. Leadership/management skills including communication, coaching, interpersonal skills, and documentation and process creation skills, are a plus. Additional duties include the evaluation and integration of new technologies; advanced support issues to insure high availability, coordination and communication, and consulting compliance with all policies, principles and directives. REQUIRED SKILLS of the CICS Database Systems Programmer (Mainframe, CICS, JAVA): • 10 years of experience on the zSeries (mainframe) platform, including extensive ‘hands on' technical experience with installation and maintenance of products related to Websphere application server, Websphere MQ (MQSeries) and CICS. This experience should include at least 6 years of systems programming experience on the zSeries (mainframe) platform supporting Websphere Application Server Network Deployment. • Thorough working knowledge of the inter-relationships of CICS TS, Websphere Application Server Network Deployment, and Websphere MQ (MQSeries). Thorough knowledge of functional administration of WAS. Exposure to datapower administration is a plus. • Thorough working knowledge of the capabilities and use of Websphere Application Server Network Deployment scripting administration in a large scale high availability deployment manager infrastructure including applications deployment. • Recent Websphere Application Server Network Deployment migration experience including from version 6.1 to version 8.5. • Ability and knowledge required to monitor and optimize WAS processes. Detailed working knowledge of Websphere Application Server Network Deployment and performance monitoring software. • Strong debugging and dump processing / review skills. In this area, JAVA Enterprise Edition (JAVA EE or J2EE) application programming experience is a plus. • Thorough working knowledge and experience with the use of IBM's SMP/E. • Strong analytical skills and understanding of MVS internals. • Strong knowledge of JCL and software concepts. Knowledge of a high-level programming language or Assembler is a plus. • Self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations. • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation). • Interpersonal skills that maintain professional relationships with external and internal customers are required. Main Responsibilities of the CICS Database Systems Programmer (Mainframe, CICS, JAVA): • Provide primary support for reported problems related to zSeries mainframe components Websphere Application Server, Websphere MQ (MQSeries), CICS TS, and related OEM software products. • Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for mainframe zOS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to Websphere Application Servers (WAS), Websphere MQ (MQSeries), CICS TS, and related OEM software products. • Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to Websphere Application Server and other components such as CICS MQSeries, Webservices, and related OEM software products. • Assist the assigned project manager (from the Program Management Office (PMO)) in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date. • Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to Wipro best practices (for productivity/scalability purposes). • Work with members of other functional groups in preparing customer partitions for regular (approximately once every two years) operating system upgrade process via a checklist of proactive actions. • Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis and in multiple time zones; assist with weekend and on-call coverage. • In joint cooperation with the Manager of Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans. • Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations and upgrades. • Establish and maintain documentation for client runbooks, systems processes and standards specific to Wipro DCS CICS support. • Follow established change control and ITIL procedures when implementing vendor product specific corrections (“fixes”) and upgrading, maintaining, enhancing or providing new options to applicable zSeries products within any given customer system. • The successful candidate is expected to participate in and contribute to ongoing sales efforts through travel to customer sites to present Wipro capabilities and methodologies, which will require both domestic and international travel.
