The role of Sales Manager within The Event Academy provides an exciting opportunity to join a growing team working in a dynamic and evolving industry. The worlds of training and events are full of creative, progressive and ambitious people. They are also ‘on the up’ and on the move, globally. It is an exciting place to be.

Currently 92% of our higher level graduates are working in the events industry 6 months after qualifying.

To fill the role of Sales Manager we are looking for a dynamic, experienced and ambitious individual to join us at this exciting period in our evolution. This role will partner with an existing Sales Manager and be supported by a Sales Administrator, reporting to the Commercial Director.

Current sales stats at Event Academy:

  • 12-15,000 web visits per month
  • 700+ ‘enquiries’
  • 350 enquiries per sales manager per month (20 mins on each enquiry)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to enquiries (telephone, email, web-enquiries)
  • Follow and contribute to the development of the existing sales process
  • Call new contacts/manage relationships using sales database and email platforms
  • Build and sustain relationships with contacts, while qualifying appropriately
  • Work in close partnership with other Sales Manager and Sales Administrator
  • Report to Commercial Director daily on outcomes
  • Conduct telephone and face to face interviews – advise applicants on best course options
  • Attend monthly Open Evening/Open Days in London

On a weekly basis you will:

  • Meet with Commercial team (Sales and Marketing) to analyse targets and outcomes
  • Meet with Commercial Director re feedback, support and training
  • Accurately forecast sales outcomes
  • Track sales metrics and report data to Commercial Director

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 years of direct sales experience
  • Familiarity with key steps in a sales cycle
  • Proven track record of meeting sales targets
  • Good written English skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strategic planning experience
  • Ability to collaborate and be self-motivated
  • Ability to be calm under pressure
  • Ability to multi task and plan time effectively as well as managing own interview appointments calendar
  • Warmth and enthusiasm – the ability to build rapport with a wide range of people and excite and inspire them
  • People skills and a passion to help others

Desirable:  

  • Familiarity with sales databases - we use Capsule (sales database) and Mailchimp (marketing platform)
  • Understanding of the training and events industries
  • Experience of working within higher education or a training organisation
  • Experience working with international students
  • A second language
  • Ambition to progress - the mid-term objective for a successful candidate taking up this role is to progress to becoming the Sales Team Manager, with increased responsibility and opportunities.
