Our client is a small accountancy practice based in central Hove, with easy links to public transport.  They are a very busy but friendly company operating from pleasant offices.  They are urgently seeking a switched-on Accounts Assistant to join them on a permanent basis.  Candidates for this role must have an AAT level 3 along with some practical experience.  The role is pretty standard; preparing end of year accounts to Trial Balance stage, including:

  • Purchase Ledger
  • Sales Ledger
  • Petty Cash expenses
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Maintaining and reconciling Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Assisting with the completion of the monthly financial statements
  • Income Statement expenses analysis
  • Support month, quarter and year end activities
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Daily/Weekly reporting
  • Dealing with clients on a daily basis in person, by telephone and in writing
  • Being able to work without supervision
  • Working with urgency to support a growing business
  • Ability to work with ambitious targets and delivery outcomes
  • Competent in using Sage Accounts Production/Quickbooks/Xero software
  • Good IT skills including systems and Excel ability
  • Managing the transfer of client records to online accounting software to comply with "Making Tax Digital" statutory requirements
  • Demonstrate appropriate levels of numeracy and literacy
  • Driven and able to show initiative on a diverse range of tasks have strong working knowledge of the above duties
  • Ad-hoc duties as and when required
