My Client are looking for a Development Team Lead to join their small team based in a new technology hub in Brighton. This role will play a key role in the organisation, taking responsibility for the planning and organisation of all Software Development activities, while also actively contributing to the design, development, support and maintenance of products.

The right candidate will lead a small team of Software Developers to achieve the business objectives laid out in the company goals and development roadmap.

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading a team of Software Developers.
• Overall responsibility for specifying, planning & development of software.
• Overall responsibility for the maintenance of software.
• Development and implementation of best practice software development processes.
• Formulate and analyse high level requirements to develop product solutions.
• Engage with customers to develop these requirements offering advice and guidance at all stages both on and off-site.
• Create detailed engineering work plans and requirements/specifications.
• Ensure that designs are properly verified according to engineering procedures and comply with relevant regulatory standards.

• Under self-guidance acquire and share knowledge of software systems.
• Self-prioritise to deliver all required project deliverables within agreed timescales.
• Support and develop engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.

Key skills and experience:

• Ability to demonstrate thorough engineering approach to problem solving.
• Experience of using Java and SQL.
• Some knowledge of R&D project lifecycle.
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and follow them through to full conclusion.

• Good communicator, able to effectively interact with range of technical and non-technical colleagues.
