Head of Innovation and Architecture - Hove - £competitive and excellent benefits

Your new role

You will work closely with stakeholders, business representatives and subject matter experts to design technology systems and solutions that are aligned with the business strategy.
Define, maintain and communicate the Group's IT Strategy, technology roadmap and how solutions should be implemented across Group.
  • To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, making sure management discretion is used in a consistent manner, and that the area follows the Group's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance
  • Define and maintain the IT Strategy with the Head of IT ensuring articulation of architectural design principles that guide technology decisions for Group Finance and aligns with enterprise principles and business strategy. These principles will include regulatory compliance such as GDPR and adherence to Treating Customers Fairly principles and L&Gs commitment to these.
  • Develop and manage IT roadmap,investment and implementation plan and ensure that the IT architecture is appropriate to business requirements and IT strategy; defining the transition steps and strategy from current to future technology architecture
  • Develop business case justifications and cost benefit analysis for proposed areas of spending and initiatives. This includes the directing of research on potential technology solutions and, where applicable, the implementation to support new initiatives; bringing in new thinking and market trends to drive business innovation.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the business leaders, product owners, and end users to proactively assist in the direction for future projects and programmes. Consulting on sequencing and dependencies to inform planning across the portfolio of change.
  • Establish and lead on optimal technical architecture standards, governance framework and align with project framework (across solution, technical, infrastructure, data, security disciplines) to guide decision making. Lead the technical architecture design authority.
  • Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture and deliver innovative solutions in support of the Vision and Strategy, providing a perspective on the Group's readiness to change and innovate.
  • Facilitate and lead the evaluation and selection of technology product standards, as well as the design of standard technology configurations and implementation of technology.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Degree in business, computer science, systems analysis or equivalent preferred
  • TOGAF or similar certification preferred
  • ITIL certification preferred
  • The regulatory environment, including FCA, PRA is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of design and architectural patterns.
  • Knowledge and experience of IT industry standards, IT governance
  • Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, budgeting and risk management
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, API, open data, micro services, event driven IT and predictive analytics and business intelligence/analytics.
  • Exposure and understanding of existing and emerging new technologies and processing environment.
  • Experienced IT architect with broad technology experience in finance sector.
  • Wide and extensive experience across network, applications, data and infrastructure domains.
  • Strategic thinking, taking a broader picture view of situations.
  • Vendor and technology neutral - more interested in business outcomes
  • Experience of software development methodologies and structured approaches to system development.
  • Excellent understanding of IT architecture, infrastructure and service models with proven ability to interpret these into services that meet business needs.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing strategic data solutions to support data strategy eg data-hubs, data analytics and data vizualisation tools.
  • Good understanding of data architecture and the technology required to support data led organisations.
  • Ability to develop, and project a positive image of the IT function and company through interpersonal, written and verbal communications to a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong experience in at least 3 disciplines - business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations in a multitier environment.
  • Proven practical approach in supporting the business achieved business vision and targeted outcomes through IT solutions and innovation.
  • Track record of delivery of multimillion £ solutions across an enterprise
  • Proven ability to build successful working relationships, networks and team dynamics.
  • Practical, common sense approach to delivering successful, collaborative outcomes
