Job Details
The Inn on The Pond are looking for someone who is passionate about food and has the ambition to succeed. Someone who has a friendly and polite personality with a good work ethic.
They are a small team of experienced chefs looking for an apprentice to train up to become a team member. They have lots of ideas and visions for the business and need an extra pair of hands to succeed.
The ideal candidate will be keen to learn and able to handle a fast pace during service.
Duties will include:
- Food preparation
- Stock control
- Maintaining a high level of kitchen cleanliness
- Learning the changing menu and understanding how it's put together
- Cooking a variety of food - starters, mains and desserts

Training to be Provided:
A commis chef is the most common starting position in many kitchens and in principal the most junior culinary role. A commis chef prepares food and carries out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of a more senior chef. The primary objective of the commis chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen. Therefore having the opportunity to experience, consider and value each section with a view to choosing an area where they feel most inspired. The learning journey of any chef will vary considerably from one individual to the next; however it is necessary to understand and have experience in the basics that this role provides in order to progress to any future senior chef role.
Please be advised that training is completed at Crawley College.

18 months
Skills Required:
Must be able to handle a fast past environment
Qualifications Required:
Maths and English GCSE grade C/4 preferred but not essential.
Any catering qualifications would be an advantage.
Personal Qualities:
Friendly, team player, keen to learn
