Hastings Direct - Credit Hire Handler

We have a fantastic new opportunity within our Technical Claims department for a Credit Hire Handler. This role would suit those with high attention to detail, ideally from a contact centre or financial services background or those looking to make a move to a dynamic, progression focused environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Hire Team Leader, you are responsible for proactively managing the third party claim and contributing to the control of overall Third Party hire and repair spend. The team is responsible for newly reported credit hire claims and for controlling hire periods in line with the department's strategy, as well as challenging the validity of incoming requests for payment. You are responsible for indemnity and liability decision making, as we as providing vehicle and repair solutions to third parties following an accident.

Your remit will include the following;

  • Control leakage across third party claims by increasing capture rate
  • Proactively manage third party claims journey following an accident with our policyholder through the provision of our hire and repair services
  • Minimise the claims department's exposure to incoming third party credit hire and repair claims
  • Maintain accurate reserves and proactively manage a portfolio of third party repair claims
  • Negotiate third party total loss settlements
  • Protect the company against third party credit hire claims using interviews, credit hire evidence and gathering of provisions of hire and repair services, challenging the inbound hire and repair invoices
  • Manage a challenging workload of hire/repair claims
  • Responsible for servicing inbound phone calls from third parties, customers, garages, third party representatives and other suppliers
  • Responsible for negotiating cash in lieu and total loss designed to reduce hire length and raising payments promptly where settlement has been negotiated
  • Responsible for meeting monthly targets and for ensuring hire spend across the claims department is reduced
  • Ensure all new claims are accurately recorded and all intervention activities have been completed to ensure the team has the best opportunity to outsource hire and repair claims and manage claims in line with business expectations
  • Adhering to MOJ process and providing responses within the agreed time frames
  • Monitoring hire to ensure maximum cost protection from future hire costs
