A recent published report by Learning Consultancy Partnership entitled Handling difficult conversations at work, based on findings from a survey of over 100 managers and L&D professionals.
The report also includes a guide for managers to follow when preparing for difficult conversations at work.
Over 100 management and human resources professionals completed the survey and as a result some very interesting responses have been revealed.
The most difficult conversations subjects for managers are:
Behavioural issues (23%), Poor performance (20%), Personal hygiene (20%), Firing or redundancy (11%), Absence and lateness (6%), Communicating charge (5%), An individual with personal difficulties (3%)
The most difficult conversations subjects when addressing managers:
Requesting a payrise (32%), Asking for feedback (25%), Agreeing targets (13%), Challening manger (13%), Managers behaviouir (5%), Poor management (5%), Seeking promotion (2%)
