What will I be doing?
As an Apprentice Chef, you are responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. An Apprentice Chef would also be required to undertake all reasonable duties as assigned by the Head Chef. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Contribute to high levels of customer service
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the highest standard
- Manage customer relations when necessary
- Comply with and have full knowledge of regulations regarding Health and Safety
- Undertake any reasonable duties that may be assigned by the Head chef or senior manager in the hotel
- Complete all aspects of the training programme

I started a Human Nutrition degree and did one year. I loved the food science and nutrition models, but the rest of the course was not for me.
I left the degree planing on going into an apprenticeship or job to do with cooking, health and nutrition.
I have been working in pubs and bars where I have had to prepare and serve food and I understand how important it is to have great food and service.
I really hope I can hear from you soon, as this is a perfect opportunity for the next step in my career and as well as broadening my knowledge of great food and presentation.

just a quick question. I am a 33 year old person that is looking for a career change. I worked in a kitchen years ago as a KP and have also experience in the hospitality sector. Somehow I had put my wishes to become a chef on hold and I want now to start working in kitchens.
Would there be an age limit in this kind of apprenticeship? Do you think it is a good idea for me to search these kind of options?

There are many chef apprenticeships through the apprenticeship website also there are some apprenticeships on our site BrightonandHoveJobs.com.
Most apprenticeships are for people aged 16 – 24 but there are some exceptions.
