Joanna Zwolak Stavrou, a Level 3 Complementary Therapies student from City College Brighton and Hove, has scooped the top award in her category in the regional Beauty & Holistics heats for WorldSkills UK, hosted at East Surrey College. The competition offered students and trainees the opportunity to benchmark their abilities against their peers while honing and developing their skills. Competitors travelled from across the South East in the hope of making it to the national finals in Birmingham this November. WorldSkills UK is the country’s premier set of skills competitions for young people and adults.  The competitions aim to encourage people from across the UK to excel in their work-based skill while lifting standards of training and performance.

Joanna’s professionalism, conscientiousness and the way in which she continually strives for perfection make her an outstanding reflexologist and the College’s is really proud of what she achieved at Worldskills”, said Georgia Christoforou, the Curriculum Team Leader of City College’s Beauty & Holistic Therapies department. “It was a really exciting event to take part in”, said Joanna. “I’ve managed to gain a lot of confidence in my ability at the College because the course is structured so well and the tutors are so supportive and passionate about the subject.”
