Apprentice honoured by business award

Courteney Walters, who is working towards her business administration level 2 apprenticeship at Regis Removals, won the The Robert Warham Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year last month after being nominated by her employers.

Lois Humphries is Courteney’s manager at the Bognor Regis-based company. She said: “We nominated Courteney because she has been exceptional since she joined us.

“Everything she has been asked to do, she’s taken and run with it - often going above and beyond.

“We didn’t really know what to expect from having an apprentice, but Courteney has been fantastic. She’s proved herself time and time again – she has been brilliant.

“It’s come to the point now where I don’t know what we would do without her.

“We’re so proud that she won the award, and she really deserves it.”

While the win was no surprise to Courteney’s manager or colleagues, the 23-year-old admits it took her by surprise.

She added: “I was very, very shocked when they called my name out!

“I was just amazed that I had been nominated, so to win was a huge surprise – when they were describing the qualities of the winner, I had no idea it was me they were talking about!

“I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship and I love what I do. It is the perfect match, and something I just stumbled across really.

“I was looking for a job, and was put in touch with Regis Removals after speaking to the apprenticeship team at Chichester College and it went from there.

“It’s been a fantastic opportunity that I’m grateful to have had.”
