LoveLocalJobs.com are happy to share the latest news from our Founding Partner Palmer and Harvey.
Justin Jones started on the career ladder as a graduate trainee less than 4 years ago and is now the Commercial Financial Analyst at Palmer & Harvey! Find out more about his experience with working at the company.
What is your role at Palmer & Harvey and how long have you been in your position?
I am currently a Commercial Financial Analyst within the Financial Planning & Analysis team at Palmer & Harvey; a role I’ve only been doing for 4 months now. The job focuses on investigating pricing & sales margins, customer profitability and weekly KPI reporting but involves a wide array of ad hoc requests that keeps it fresh and rewarding.
What attracted you to working at Palmer & Harvey?
Having joined on the Graduate Scheme, the structure of formal qualification, coupled with experience and exposure to wide and differing areas of the business, first attracted me to Palmer & Harvey. This feeling only grew in size when I began to realise the opportunities that such a large company can offer, and the almost mind-boggling volume we deal with on a daily basis.
What do you love about working at Palmer & Harvey?
Apart from the fantastic location near the seafront, there are also the great people the company employs. Their sense of professionalism does not stop it being a fun and enjoyable environment to work within and there is a sense of togetherness when there are challenging obstacles to overcome. Also, the diversity of roles that are on offer keeps the place refreshing – I’m now on my fourth different role within the company!
What has been your career highlight?
There have been countless moments throughout my 3 and a half years for Palmer & Harvey, from helping to create new financial accounts for a customer worth £750m in turnover per year to representing the company at participating in various sporting events (including getting to play football at Wembley). However, winning an award nominated by my colleagues for my hard work on a project will always stick in the mind as one of my proudest achievements.
How would you describe your time so far at Palmer & Harvey?
I would describe my time so far as challenging yet rewarding. The opportunities that are there for those who want to grab them are many and varied, but all come with a degree of hard work and determination!
Would you recommend Palmer & Harvey to your friends/family as a great place to work? Why?
Absolutely; in fact, I have already done so in the past and one friend is now also a colleague. The great working environment that Palmer & Harvey offers, as well as the options to progress and ‘work your way up the ladder’ are some of the many reasons I would recommend it.
What would your super power be?
Teleportation – it doesn’t have to be unlimited; just the ability to close my eyes at the end of a holiday and be home rather than the soul-crushing return journey would be enough!
