Background to the Post

We are seeking to recruit a team of apprentices for this very successful nursery. The Apprenticeship provides unqualified staff, with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.  Apprentices can work towards Level 2 Certificate and/or Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s and Young people’s workforce, subject to previous experience.

The time it takes to achieve qualification can vary but usually we would expect that Level 3 would be achieved within 18 months. The period of employment will normally end once an apprentice has achieved their qualification.  Full training will be provided.  Level 2 and/or Level 3 training and assessment will be provided by The Centre for Early Years Training. Induction training and ‘on-the-job training’ will be provided by the Nursery Team Manager as well as other nursery/college staff (for example the Deputy Nursery Team Manager/room leaders).

About the Nursery

Children First Nursery and Forest School, is a thriving purpose built 70 place day nursery based in Worthing college. The nursery is open to children age 6 weeks to 5 years and is open for 51 weeks of the year Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm. Children are divided over 4 rooms by age. We also run a holiday club based in our forest school for children aged 4 -11 years. Flexible childcare places are offered including all day, all week, part-week and morning or afternoon sessions. The nursery has a real outdoors ethos and we are based in extensive grounds with access to nature trails, local green spaces and our forest schools.  Further information about Children First Nursery and Forest School can be found on the college website.
