Community Engagement Co-ordinator (3 Year Contract)
Field Based (covering Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield and Pevensey and the rural areas in between and beyond)

About Us

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is an incredible charity that aims to provide enhanced end-of-life care for people throughout the Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield and Heathfield areas.

Formed in 1982, for the past 30 years we have been supporting people with progressive, advanced life-limiting illnesses. In 2013, we moved to a 20 in-patient unit and wellbeing centre with calm, beautiful and peaceful gardens which support our rehabilitative approach to care.

Our Community Engagement Project, which is being funded by the Big Lottery, aims to build links with the community to increase access to end of life care for local people.

We’re now looking for a Community Engagement Co-ordinator to join us on a three year contract and support the delivery of this project.

The Benefits

- Salary of £27,500 per annum
- Contributory pension scheme
- Work alongside a talented team who are passionate about what they do
- 27 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays

This is an amazing opportunity to act as the champion of a well-established charity and ensure that people who are most in need can easily access our services.

You’ll be out and about meeting new people every day and driving positive change within your community.

You will have the chance to make a real difference on a daily basis and will play an important role in increasing awareness of our work and the support we provide.

The Role

As a Community Engagement Co-ordinator, you’ll spread the word about the care St Wilfrid’s provides and how to access it.

Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you’ll attend local events and give talks and presentations to groups about our hospice and how we’re transforming end-of-life care.

You will inspire individuals and organisations to support our hospice and let them know how they can help and get involved through volunteering and fundraising.

Additionally, you will:

- Recruit and manage a team of Community Link Volunteers
- Host tours and visits of our hospice
- Identify opportunities to work with organisations and charities that provide services which may be of interest to St Wilfrid’s patients
- Travel to sites across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield and Pevensey

About You

To join us as a Community Engagement Co-ordinator, you’ll need:

- A track record of success in an externally-facing role
- Experience of working with a range of different organisations and groups within local communities to achieve results
- Previous experience of writing to supporters, customers and/or of writing promotional copy
- Experience of working within and across teams
- A full driving licence and access to your own transport
- The ability to work out-of-hours when required
- At a minimum, GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above in English and Maths

We’d like to hear from you if you’ve worked as a Community Support Officer, Community Engagement Officer, Volunteering Co-ordinator, Fundraising Co-ordinator, Fundraising Officer, Charity Event Co-ordinator or Supporter Engagement Co-ordinator.

The closing date for applications is the 31st March 2019.
