IT Technician
32 days holiday per annum + 8 days public holidays – pro rata
Main Purpose of the Job
Supporting the IT Manager with the provision and implementation of IT strategies, infrastructure hardware and software services that align with business goals and operational needs.
Main Duties (Global)
To check for potential faults, especially those likely to impact on teaching.
Acting as 1st /2nd level support.
IT administration of user accounts for the organisations systems, such as password resets, resetting locked accounts, updating systems with new data.
Ensure that all internet connections are monitored and that if faults are found to be pro-active in ensuring they are fixed as soon as possible.
Install new hardware/software.
Set up organisation laptops and support 3rd party visitors to connect to our equipment. Ensure touchscreens/large screens/IWB/sound systems are ready for us and operating correctly.
Provide some user training for IT software, hardware and how our organisation operates with it’s data
Perform basic network troubleshooting
Diagnose and repair PC’s, printer and peripheral device faults.
Assist in maintaining our MS 365 Exchange, BB Services and other databases.
Assist in researching and testing emerging technology, virtualization technology and hardware.
Assist in solving Cloud (especially MS Terminal Server) issues. Monitor and log user feedback on the Cloud. With particular emphasis on how to improve it for staff.
Maintain inventory of IT hardware/software. Perform basic stock keeping of consumable items.
Assist with examination and tests where required.
Provide support for Enterprise and Residential Care Homes.
To ensure that issues are prioritised effectively – Global issues first, local second, to User third. However, flexibility is required when a Learner’s needs outweigh that of a global issue.
Qualifications, knowledge & skills (Desktop)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems – Windows 10
Experience in using and troubleshooting Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Technical Skills Network: basic firewall administration, anti-virus updates, administering and maintaining end user accounts.
Sound knowledge of data security that aligns with GDPR standard’s
Knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, GPO’s, MS Backup,
- Ability to trouble-shoot network and wireless infrastructure.
- Experience using and supporting MS Office, including MS Outlook.
- Experience and knowledge of mobile device OS e.g. Android, iOS
