This challenging permanent role would suit a scientific qualified research professional or lab professional with experience of multiphoton imaging, neuroscience research, complex instrumentation looking to develop their career within industry, recent graduates / post graduates are welcome. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or post-graduate who is now looking to start a career in the scientific and research equipment industry or for someone from a laboratory environment with experience of multiphoton imaging or who have a neuroscience (imaging and/or electrophysiology) research environment background now looking to secure a role within industry.

The ideal candidates will have the following skills and experiences;

  • Be qualified to PhD / DPhil, MSc or degree standard within life or physical sciences with neuroscience being of distinct interest;
  • Can demonstrate academic or commercial industry experience in the use of complex instrumentation such as build microscopes;
  • Preferably have a working understanding of microscopy and electrophysiology techniques and have the ability to work with and communicate with senior academics and scientists.
  • A full, clean UK or EU driving licence is also required for this role and candidates must be able and willing to travel 5-15 days per month to client sites throughout the UK and overseas

Reporting into the Team Leader, the successful individual will be responsible for both in house and onsite commissioning, functional and performance testing of equipment throughout the UK, Europe and US; performing customer onsite familiarisation and training; reporting equipment defects or other issues highlighted during the commissioning phase as well as preparing reports following completion of in house or on site activities.

Individuals will need to be self-motivated, have the ability to work to a high standard with minimal direction; demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills possess excellent problem solving skills and ability to explain technical information as well as work flexibly and be open to change
