NHS AfC: Band 5

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is the largest community health and care provider in Sussex. Our expert teams deliver a wide range of medical, nursing and therapeutic care to over 9,000 people a day, serving a total population of 1.3 million.

We pride ourselves in providing excellent care at the heart of the community. In July 2018, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave us an improved 'Good' rating, with 'Outstanding' features. 96% of our patients said they would recommend our services to their friends and family, and we attribute this to the hard work and dedication of each and every one of our teams.

We offer our staff a multitude of benefits; flexible working, free health and wellbeing checks, three tax efficient workplace nurseries rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, and a wide range of exciting learning and development opportunities including external courses, conferences, and a Graduate Studentship Scheme.

The Trust is signed up to the disability confident scheme and we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.

Band 5 Staff Nurse Development and Rotational Programme

Permanent and secondment opportunities.

Full and part time applications considered.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has some exciting new opportunities for newly qualified and experienced band 5 nurses wishing to develop their skills in different areas of nursing and gain a wider scope of experiences.

These rotational posts offer the opportunity to work across our Community Hospital Inpatient units, Community Nursing, Responsive Services, Macmillan and Urgent and Unplanned Care Out of Hours Nursing teams. Rotations can be flexible to cover specific areas of interest.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to work in these roles, with a passion for learning and delivering excellent patient-centred care. Our rotational posts are ideal for newly qualified nurses wishing to gain experience in different areas of nursing and for experienced nurses wanting to explore other areas of nursing to add to their skills portfolio. Newly qualified nurses will be supported by the practice facilitation team to complete our preceptorship program.

Rotational opportunities offer the chance to develop skills, and provide a career that is varied and interesting. Our rotational posts work by spending 4 months in 3 different areas. At the end of the rotational period (12 months) there will be the opportunity to express an interest in the area you want to work in on a permanent basis. During your rotational pathway there will be an opportunity for you to visit another area relevant to your placement within our SCFT Adult community services (for example specialist services).

Rotations are based on services in the West Sussex Coastal area - Lancing and Shoreham Worthing, Rustington, Chichester and Pulborough, Bognor and the surrounding areas. There is scope for flexibility within the rotation, with regards to location depending on the services included.

Please see the attached document of service profiles which gives an overview of each service area and rotational pathways.

We welcome informal discussions with those considering an application. For further information or to arrange an informal visit please contact kim.fretter@nhs.net or amy.dewey@nhs.net HR Business Partner and we will be happy to discuss opportunities with you.

Our Trust is rated Outstanding for provision of care in inpatient units and rated Good overall by the CQC.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.
