Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Therapy Technician band 3

The inpatient therapy team is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Technician to join our friendly, dedicated and dynamic team working in rehabilitation, treating a wide variety of conditions, primarily in orthopoedics, amputees, frailty, neurology and medical.

The Service covers four hospitals/intermediate care units; Bognor, Zachery Merton, Salvington Lodge and Arundel. The post holder will mainly work at Salvington Lodge or Zachery Merton, but may occasionally be expected to work at the other locations.

The post is currently part time, 30 hours a week. There is potential to increase to full time in the near future. As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to:
  • Receive support from other therapy colleagues. • Receive clinical supervision from registered Therapists. • Participate in the in-service learning programme. • Develop your practice, relevant to the team. • Participate in competency development through the Calderdale Framework. • Support development of other staff outside of your professional group. • Assist in shaping future clinical practice of the therapy team.

The service is continually developing and improving to meet the needs of our patients and commissioners.

We are looking for someone who likes working with people, is reliable, flexible and adaptable in their work. Previous experience as a Therapy technician, assistant or similar role is desirable. Our ideal candidate will enjoy problem solving, have excellent communication skills, and want to work on the wards within a supportive multidisciplinary team, helping to implement timely and person-centred assessments and rehabilitation.

Applicants should have experience of delivering care and/or rehabilitation to adult and older persons with various needs.

The post holder will be required to support service developments and show flexibility when adapting to change. . The successful candidate will • Assist the therapy staff in the treatment of specific patients. • Have their own patient caseload and clinical duties • Supervise exercise programmes and practice activities of daily living under the guidance of a therapist. • Assess and treat patients according to protocols, monitoring patient progression, making minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required • Work without direct supervision, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapist of any problems. • Prepare and keep clean and tidy, treatment areas and equipment.

Full driving licence and access to a car are required.
