Job Title: General Operative
Based at: On-site as and where required
Responsible to: Site Manager
Job Purpose Summary: Carry out general labouring duties as required by the Site Manager/Supervisor ensuring special attention to Health and Safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

Site Based
❑ Self-Management either under supervision or lone working
❑ Use own initiative to ensure work is to the required standard
❑ Comply with the requirements Specification and Schedule of Works
❑ Ensure that you are following minimum Health and Safety standards, highlighting any hazards or issues to the Site Manager at the earliest possible time.
❑ Monitor and correct quality of work.
❑ Develop and maintain relationships with your team and the supply chain
❑ help to prepare the site - unload and store building materials and plant.
❑ groundwork - mark out and dig shallow trenches for foundations and drains
❑ concreting - layer and smooth concrete for foundations, floors and beams
❑ road working - concrete, lay kerbs, pave and resurface
❑ Use various hand, power and machine tools to complete required duties (With further training may operate construction plant equipment like dumper trucks and excavators).

Administrative
❑ Record and pass on relevant information as required.
❑ Arrange and or assist with labour plant and material resourcing as required by the Site Manger
❑ You may Order and collect/purchase materials/plant either under direction or using own initiative.
❑ Ensure that time keeping on site is observed and the Company is getting value for money.
❑ Report any incidents to the office including bad workmanship, accidents, delays and the like.
❑ Working to existing systems and practises
❑ Assisting with Health and Safety matters and the enforcement of the Company Policy and Directive from the HSE
❑ Ensuring time sheets and expense claims are given to the office
❑ Assisting with disputes on suppliers and sub-contractors.
