This is a fantastic role in our committed and dynamic Student Support team that is highly valued and pivotal to the inclusive and aspirational ethos of our school, where we seek to nurture the success and self belief of all of our students. The vision for this role is that the successful candidate will be a bridge between the Student Support team and teaching staff, sharing best practice from both and creating a cohesive approach to the high quality teaching of students who need SEND school support. This may be in lessons or in targeted interventions outside of class. If appointed, you will have the opportunity to develop as a practitioner and leader in Special Educational Needs supporting children to achieve and colleagues to develop in their practice. The role is ideal for those aspiring to other leadership positions in SEND or educational support more widely.

The strategic purpose of this role is to:

  • Ensure the effective planning, delivery and evaluation of support for ‘SEND support’ students (K code), including modeling best practice.
  • Support the SENCo to deploy resources and guide staff to achieve and maintain high standards of support for students with SEND K codes.
  • Work to embed understanding and approaches that will improve the achievement and care of students with SEND.
  • Take strategic direction from the SENCo, acting as a link between TA team and SENCo.  

 Within the Student Support department the teams themselves reflect the categories of the Code of Practice, with a learning facilitator leading each one.

The SEND Provision Coordinator will work directly under the SENCo in leading both teaching staff and student support staff in supporting SEND Support (K code) students. The post holder will receive weekly coaching/supervision from the SENCo, along with other relevant CPD to ensure they can support others credibly, plan systematically and develop themselves. They will be required to take an effective overview of events and issues, managing these before passing them up to the SENCo.

Salary: Actual Salary Range £22,032 - £23,381

Hours: 37 hrs pw, term-time only (work 39 weeks/paid 46.2 weeks)

Start Date: From Sept 2019
