  • 14 inpatient and outpatient locations, serving a total community of 1.3 million people

Finches is a short breaks centre for children with complex healthcare needs and life limiting conditions, based in Burgess Hill but part of Chailey Clinical services.

The unit provides short breaks for children in the local area, to allow them time away from their families to be independent and also to give their family a break from their caring roles and responsibilities.

The day to day running of the unit is managed by a team of Senior Paediatric Nurses and under their guidance care is delivered by our team of highly trained support staff.

These children are often severely disabled and can be dependent on technology for their wellbeing - full training and support to care for these children is given on starting the post and updated at regular intervals during the year by our team of Practice Educators. Applicants must be willing to work flexibly across both night and day duty as we provide a service that runs 24 hours per day with a significant demand at weekends. Night duty is on a waking basis.

An ideal applicant has significant experience in looking after children and preferably children with additional or special needs, but applications are also welcomed from those who have other skills they feel they can offer to support our children/young people. Experience of enteral feeds is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. You must be willing and able to learn new skills and flexible with both your working days and hours. You will be joining a growing team of Healthcare Assistants and will have every opportunity to learn and be supported in gaining experience and knowledge in caring for these children.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.

Correspondence relating to this vacancy will be conducted electronically. Please ensure that you check your emails on a regular basis. References will be requested electronically also; please ensure you provide correct contact details for referees.
