Job Description:

You will report to the Production Supervisor

You will work closely with Senior Operations Manager and Application Technicians

This Apprenticeship deals with the design, production and installation of all sorts of signs, from those displayed on company entrances to the advertising hoardings you see around building projects. You will also receive full training on the different materials we employ, as well as methods for application of vinyl material to vehicles and other surfaces. You will be required to work within our busy production facility carrying out other sign and graphics duties.

You may be required to attend college on a day release basis to receive training relevant to this position alongside other work place skills such as Maths, English and IT. The apprenticeship can take 18 months to complete and will lead to a nationally recognised vocational qualification.

Main Responsibilities:

> To assist producing various types of signs including installation

> To assist producing and applying livery for vehicles

> Minimise wastage and rework at all stages of production

> Achieve the production schedule as directed by your line manager

> Accurately record data for material usage and time on Clarity and Quality Management System

> Follow documented client preferences through production process, alerting Production Team Leader

or Sales Administrator to any discrepancies or errors as early as possible

> Packing and labelling items for despatch as instructed

> Maintaining a clean, tidy, organised and safe workshop and work area always

> To assist Production Assistants producing emergency service livery kits when needed

> Preparing vehicles or surfaces correctly in advance of the application of material (cleaning and preparing)

> Ensure the company's customer service standards are met on and off site

> Maintain and build company image by collaborating with customers, acting professionally and courteously at all times; enforcing ethical business practices

Training to be Provided:

Qualifications:

The Apprenticeship programme enables candidates to work towards a framework of qualifications, as follows:

• Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Signmaking (QCF)

• Level 1 Functional Skills in Math, English and IT (unless exempt)

• Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

• Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Course Content:

The NVQ Level 2 Diploma, which is a combined knowledge and competence based qualification, is delivered via flexible work based assessments and onsite observations from our experienced Assessor approximately once a month. Candidates will be expected to cover a range of units for which they will need to provide work-based evidence.

Expected Duration:

18 Months

> Basic computer skills.

> Reliable and hard working

> Attention to detail, consistency and high levels of accuracy at all stages of production

Qualifications Required:

> GCSE grade (or equivalent) A-C in English & Maths preferred

> Basic computer skills. Training will be provided for the specific systems we use

Personal Qualities:

> The ability to work as part of a team or individually

> Demonstrate you can offer commitment to PVL

> You will need to be adaptable and able to multi task and show a willingness to learn new skills

> Flexible, self-motivated and punctual

? Able to take instructions and to listen

Future Prospects:

Successful completion of the apprenticeship can lead to a position as a Sign Display Specialist or Application Technician.

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour effective from 1st April 2019. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
