Job description 

The Change and Release Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining the release of products through the test and production environments, including coordinating product release activities with project management and end users. Additionally the Change and Release Manager is also responsible for operational change management within the VOA Customer Group, ensuring that all IT change has been through the appropriate test and change processes and has approval to proceed to the production environment. 

You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, broadening your experience and skill-set as you drive forward our plans for digital modernisation. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement ITIL compliant Change, Release and Configuration Management standards, plans and processes. 

• Coordinate the planning, design, build, configuration and testing of software and hardware release packages. 

• Co-convene and chair all Change Advisory Board (CAB) and emergency CAB meetings and authorise changes. 

• Issue change schedules to the Service Desk. 

• Produce, maintain and publicise appropriate acceptance criteria for new or changed software and hardware entering the VOA Customer Group IT estate and embed knowledge of this into the project management and delivery functions. 

• Review all implemented changes to ensure they have met their objectives and analyse change records to identify trends. 

• Produce regular and accurate management reports. 

• Provide technical leadership and guidance. 

• Build and maintain relationships across the wider HMRC teams. 

• Manage a team of IT specialists. 

Essential Criteria 

• Experience of managing change and release across a variety of delivery teams and IT streams. 

• Stakeholder management and expectation setting. 

• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external delivery partners. 

Desirable skills/expertise 

•ITIL Foundation Certificate or ITIL Transition Certificate. 

•Service Operations knowledge and experience. 

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Regular travel to Worthing, West Sussex will be required as part of this role with overnight stays. Travel to other HMRC CDIO sites around the country will also be required.
