Job Details
At Miniature Manors we design and build beautifully bespoke garden rooms. Our structures are hand crafted in our customers' gardens and are used as offices, gyms, bedrooms and even salons.
We are a young team with an ambition to provide the best quality carpentry. Most of our work takes places in Sussex. We offer a range of designs so no two working days are ever the same.
The Carpentry Assistant will be working alongside our team to understand how to build our garden rooms from the ground up. They will learn how to build a timber framed structure, experience how to fit doors and windows and learn how to make adequate groundworks.
During the role, the applicant will get to work alongside a number of trades including plasterers, plumbers, electricians and landscapers. As a result the applicant will learn how carpentry coincides with other trades.
Other day to day duties including accepting deliveries, garden clearance, cleaning our sites at the end of each day and collecting materials from local suppliers. These jobs are carried out by all of our team, no matter what their experience.

Other Important Information:
All applications must be made through Apprenticeship vacancies. Do not contact the employer direct as this may result in your application not being considered. The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour effective from 1st April 2018. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
Reality Check:
The applicant will need their own mode of transport as our work takes place in our customer's gardens around Sussex. We occasionally work in Surrey and Kent.

Crawley College Apprenticeships
Crawley College, part of the Chichester College Group, has the highest achievement rate for apprenticeships in Sussex (National Achievement Rates Tables in 2017/18).
Why choose an apprenticeship?
- You can earn while you learn – as an apprentice you earn a salary and get to work alongside experienced staff who will help you to develop job-specific skills.
- You gain practical and relevant work experience – every apprenticeship program is tailored to specific job roles which means you know you will be receiving relevant training. You will also spend time ‘off-the-job’ which is undertaken outside of the normal working environment.
- You will boost your career prospects – you will develop key skills that employers within that industry really want. It will also help you enhance your longer term career prospects and earning potential.
- You will achieve sought-after qualifications – you will not only gain practical skills and experience, but in most cases a nationally recognised qualification.
