A full-time Business & Administration Level 2 apprenticeship opportunity to train as a part-time Receptionist whilst developing your skills and knowledge across multiple teams learning all about Fundraising, Human Resources, Clinical Information, Facilities, Digital Transformation, Retail and Well-being Services. This is an ideal introduction to these specialist teams and will help you to develop your core competencies to develop your ongoing career. Suitable for a school leaver or someone interested in a career change.

Morning Reception Duties:

· Meeting & greeting visitors to Reception

· Liaising with the Inpatient Unit for new patient admissions

· Operating the switchboard

· General administrative duties

Afternoon General Admin Duties:

· Working on a rotational basis across the Hospice learning about the different functions.

· Typing, copying, scanning, updating databases.

· Helping to put together promotional and training materials.

Skills required;

· Good IT skills; you will be using Windows10 Word, Excel, Outlook Express & PowerPoint. You will be trained how to use our in-house databases including SystmOne and Raisers Edge;

· Good keyboard skills;

· Good literacy and numeracy to GCSE standard;

· Previous office and administrative experience advantageous but not essential;

· Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Qualifications required;

Minimum GCSE Grade 4 English & preferably Maths.

Personal Qualities;

· Adaptable and quick to learn new skills and process information;

· Flexibility to work across multiple teams;

· Confident and outgoing personality youll be working at front of house;

· Strong team player but able to work independently when required to do so;

· A commitment towards achieving your formal qualification;

· Willingness to muck in as needed.

Training to be Provided:

The course is delivered in the workplace and comprises:

• Diploma in Business & Administration L2 (QCF)

• Functional Skills Level 1 in maths

• Functional Skills Level 1 in English

• Functional Skills Level 1 in ICT

• Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

• Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

All work is completed using One File which is an electronic portfolio system.

Expected Duration:

12-15 months

Future Prospects:

We expect to offer the successful applicant a permanent contract as Receptionist at the end of the apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory performance and completion of Level 2 qualification. The applicant will be entitled to apply for any other vacancies as and when they arise, subject to their level of skills and experience. All staff are encouraged to develop within the organisation.

Other Important Information:

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Reality Check:

Vacancy location is in North Chailey. We are close to Wivelsfield Green, around 6 miles from Haywards Heath. Owing to our rural location, you must have transport to get to the Hospice.
