We are proud to present you with the opportunity to kick start your career in Dental Nursing with a specialist practice in Dorking. Ideally you will have already gained 3-6 Months experience as a Dental Nurse and will have a keen interest in Dentistry.

About the Company:

Surrey Dental Specialists was formed in order to meet an ever increasing demand for high end and complex dentistry. Consultant and specialist Sachin Varma opened the practice in 2012 with his philosophy of providing the best dental care possible with suitably skilled practitioners. We don't simply have a special interest in various areas of dentistry, we are the specialists! All of our dentists are on the General Dental Councils specialist register. To gain access to this register, all of our specialists have additional qualifications and went through a rigorous examination process. We also have extensive teaching experience which ensures everyone practices the most up to date techniques. Our practice adorns all attributes you expect from a prestigious practice, including dental expertise delivered to the highest of standards along with our polite and helpful team to ensure the smoothest and most pleasant of dental experiences. Nervous patients can be reassured that we are highly understanding and caring. The majority of our work is complex and referred in from general dentists, therefore we are very used to anxious patients and will do everything we can to look after the patient.

Job Description:

- Provide full chair side support for dental procedures in prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics and oral surgery

- Take on all necessary responsibilities for sufficiently cleaning sterilising instruments in the decontamination room,

- All aspects of administration duties including reception cover i.e. answering the phone, booking in appointments, answering all enquiries via verbal, face to face and written communication, sending relevant emails, writing letters, completing reports, cashing up, liaising with other dental practices

Training to be Provided:

This Apprenticeship Standard will include the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing as the mandatory qualification.

With support from Crawley College, the Apprentice will develop and maintain examples of their work to meet qualification criteria within an electronic portfolio and will be required to pass 4 on line tests at Crawley College before reaching the gateway. Students will be able to re-sit each test once.

The Apprentice will be required to attend college based knowledge sessions and tutorials/revision sessions each Thursday evening during term time at the Crawley Campus.

Attendance to maths and/or English sessions will also be required if applicable.

The option to attend behaviour workshops to cover key elements of the behaviours set out in the Standard is advisable.

18 Months

- Well presented

- Polite telephone manner

- Excellent written English

- Previous administration experience would be an advantage

- Willingness to learn

Qualifications Required:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English Language and Maths

Personal Qualities:

- Genuine interest in Dentistry

- Good etiquette

- Reliable

- Ability to use initiative

Other Important Information:

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Reality Check:

- You MUST already have at least 3-6 months experience as a dental nurse to be considered for this course

- Must have or be willing to have Hepatitis B immunisation

- Employment subject to DBS/CRB check and two references
