Job Details

Domestic heating repairs /plumbing. Replacing Boilers, cylinders among other tasks driving the Van collecting materials and parts, to complete repairs to a high standard keeping the customer well informed. No two days are the same and there are many obstacles to overcome. We will often work with and around other trades it is important to be forward thinking and plan appropriately.

To start with there will be a lot of shadowing, duties mainly will be keeping the work area clean clear and van organised. As understanding builds it would be expected for radiators /boilers to be hung, supervised pipework and repairs. Parts and materials will need collecting using the work van, however at this stage a licence is not mandatory. Once training is complete a van will be provided and you will be expected to carry out duties on your own, support will always be available if you get stuck or are uncertain. The job is hugely varied and requires determination and a willingness to overcome.

Training to be Provided:

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating (combined knowledge / theory and competence based element

Level 2 English, maths and IT (unless exempt via GCSEs)

Personal Qualities:

Polite individual who can multitask and get on with the task in hand. Calm and collected even when things aren’t going to plan.

Future Prospects:

A fulltime position may be available for the right candidate, further education is an option to progress to becoming gas safe.

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
