Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with complex healthcare needs in a school environment?

If the answer is YES then we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We have a vacancy for a Band 6 Registered Nurse (RN Child, RNA, RNLD) to work within Chailey Residential School Nursing Team (RSNT). You will be supporting children and young people with a range of complex healthcare conditions in both the school setting and within residential bungalows over a 24 hour period, 365 days per year.

Applications welcomed from Registered Nurses with Adult, Learning Disability or Children's qualification.

No day is ever the same as you will either work with a specific child/young person or within the team, meeting the needs of the service responding to calls from the school and residential bungalows. You will be expected to manage issues with enteral feeds, complex seizures and potentially some of our pupils who may require ventilator support to maintain respiration. You will also train the school and bungalow care staff in meeting the daily care needs of the children and young people.

The purpose of the role is to support children, young people and their families by delivering nursing care within a defined pathway. You will work alongside members of the therapies team and will also be supported by the medical team based at Chailey Clinical Services, working together to meet the holistic needs of the children and young people.

The service is also supported by a team of Practice Development Nurses who will ensure you are competent to meet the needs of the children and young people with whom you will be working.

The successful candidate will be required to work within a 24 hour/7 day a week rota.

The role is demanding so the ability to work autonomously and manage a clinical caseload is essential.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.

Correspondence relating to this vacancy will be conducted electronically. Please ensure that you check your emails on a regular basis. References will be requested electronically also; please ensure you provide correct contact details for referees.
