Job Details

"Our vision is a world with no new HIV infections, and where those living with HIV and AIDS do so with equality and the support they need."

We are currently looking for an experienced Content Editor to join our Digital team to develop the content, reach and impact of Avert’s digital channels, campaigns, and content partnerships, in line with our ambitious 4-year strategy.

Avert has been a charity at the forefront of the HIV response since 1986. By sharing knowledge, we empower people to protect themselves and others from infection, reduce stigma and improve HIV programmes globally. Last year Avert reached over 20 million people through our global education site Avert.org and our social media campaigns. Our new information hub for community health workers in Southern Africa, Boost, will reach hundreds of thousands more when it launches in January. We are constantly seeking out new partnerships to increase the positive impact we can have on the HIV response.

With a passion for creative communications and making information available to bring about health-related behaviour and social change, you will plan, create, edit and publish a range of written and multimedia content for Avert’s digital channels in line with our mission, content strategy, tone of voice and style guidelines. You will ensure content is accurate and relevant, and work with external designers and developers to create infographics, images, audio and video content that give our messages impact. You will support the monitoring and evaluation of our projects, and feed into project reporting, organisational learning, and wider engagement with the HIV/digital health sector.

You will have:

  • excellent writing and editing skills, with an understanding of the special requirements of writing and developing accessible and creative content for the web
  • experience working with external developers and agencies to develop successful ideas for creative content
  • a track record project managing content projects and partnerships, delivering on time and on budget.
