Job Summary Chailey 

 

Chailey Heritage Foundation is a pioneering charity providing education, care and transition planning for young people aged 3-25 with complex physical disabilities and health needs.

 

Our aim is to provide a stimulating and inclusive environment where all young people are given every opportunity to make progress towards fulfilment and develop life skills in preparation for adulthood.

 

We are seeking……a Farm Assistant on a one year fixed term contract, working 24 hours per week.

 

Description of role:

 

The Farm Assistant will participate in the daily husbandry and routines of the farm, assisting the Farm Manager where necessary.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·         Preparing feed and water for the animals

 

·         Clean, disinfect and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness

 

·         Maintaining enclosures to ensure safety of all animals

 

·         Daily record keeping and completion of all relevant animal paperwork

 

·         Animal health checks

 

·         When required/instructed to provide medication to the animals

 

·         Assist with the handling of animals for routine treatments such as foot trimming and shearing

 

·         Assist with the handling of animals for school sessions

 

·         Attend to the exercise, socialising and grooming needs of the animals when needed

 

·         Ensuring the farm is clean and presentable for visitors at all times

 

Above all, we are looking for an individual with the following

 

·         Experience of working with farm animals

 

·         Experience of feeding and conducting animal checks

 

·         Calm and confident with both large and small animals

 

·         Physically able to carry out practical manual handling tasks on the farm.

 

·         Commitment to working weekdays as well as some Bank Holidays
