Health CashbackMy client is looking for an Application Development Engineer to be based in Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells or remotely. The purpose of this role is to participate in the full development lifecycle of the clients core applications i.e. requirements gathering, technical system design / architecture, software implementation, system & integrated testing and live application support.

Key Accountabilities

Develop new features / applications in response to the overall business development agenda and strategic priorities
Provide 3rd level support to user-facing application support teams
Lead / contribute on internal development projects, including technologies such as ASP.NET MVC, C#, Web API / REST, SQL Server
Contribute to our flagship development activity involving extensive development and customisation of MS Dynamics CRM platform if required
Operate in a highly agile, quality-driven development process, take responsibility for timely delivery of high quality technical assets
Challenge status quo and provide an independent perspective on how to improve our understanding / interpretation of business requirements, systems design & architecture, development / QA processes etc.
Manage Application Development tasks to agreed project schedule and milestones
Escalate risks to Application Development Manager to ensure broader considerations are always taken into account (e.g. Security and audit policies, user experience, system performance etc.)
Promote application development function throughout the business and obtain feedback that should be acted upon to improve quality levels and relevance / value of our existing / new software applications
Ensure all activities are aligned to and addressing relevant business needs
Participate in monthly 1-to-1 meetings with Application Development Manager as well as regular team meetings, quarterly and annual performance review meetingsSkills And Experience

No immediate line management responsibility but can include managing / leading a small team of software engineers / developers on a project by project basis
BSc or higher / equivalent degree in computer science / software engineering
Experience and proven track record in Web application development using Microsoft technology stack utilizing ASP.NET MVC, C#, Web API / REST, SQL Server
Experience in front end web development including HTML, CSS / LESS / SASS, JavaScript
Working experience of Agile software development methodologies, strong commitment to software QA processes
Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently
Passion and interest in user-centred design methodologies
