An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Lead to join our Hospital Rapid Discharge Team (HRDT). HRDT are a therapy-led 'front door' team based at Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The team consists of Physiotherapy and Occupation Therapy and covers A&E, the Clinical Decision Unit and the Rapid Access Medical Unit.

The team provide evidence-based assessment and interventions as a multidisciplinary team. They ensure that all patients have a robust discharge plan: either discharged home safely from 'front door' with appropriate local support services or admitted for further medical treatment with a therapy plan already in place if appropriate.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management and operational leadership of the team as well as undertaking clinical duties.

Experience is required in staff supervision, service development, managing sickness absence, conduct and capability, recruitment and retention, dealing with complaints and working innovatively and flexibly to meet service demands. Knowledge of rostering systems, incident reporting and SBS are also desirable. Previous experience of handling budgets and allocating locums and bank staff would be an advantage.

An in-depth understanding of at least one of the professions is essential. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of IT are also essential.

Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team, knowledge of current practice development in physiotherapy, and a broad range of physiotherapy skills gained through post-registration rotation/posts and being able to manage complex situations is required. Experience in the acute setting and/or community, and experience of working with the elderly would be an advantage.

You will work closely with the Clinical Services Manager, your senior team members and Band 7 Clinical Leads in the community and local area, in order to anticipate the needs of the service and plan appropriately. Attendance at relevant area-wide meetings is required.
