Immunisation Programme Assistant - 30 hours per week, term time only

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 3 Immunisation Programme Assistant to join our school-aged Immunisation Service. SCFT's Immunisation Service vaccinates children in schools and clinics across West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove. Although this post is based within the Worthing team our whole service approach requires joint working across the whole of Sussex.

Our innovative and dynamic Immunisation teams are dedicated to improving immunisation uptake and delivering the national evidence-based Schools' Immunisation Programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding service.

You will be providing support to the Immunisation Service, which will include providing clerical and clinical support in schools, clinics and patients' homes. You will also be working with hard to reach groups such as travellers and children who are looked after. It is an exciting role as our programmes incorporate the flu vaccinations that are being offered to all school children from reception age to year six, in addition to our senior school vaccination programmes. You will give immunisation information talks to parents at new parents events and to students in assemblies.

The successful candidate will prepare the documentation and assist with the running of the vaccination sessions and be expected to accurately process the completed session paperwork.

The ability to communicate well and remain calm at busy immunisation sessions is essential, as one aspect of your role is to provide reassurance to anxious children.

You will need to demonstrate your familiarity with Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience of data-inputting is preferable but training will be given.

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly and cooperatively with colleagues both within their own team and the wider multidisciplinary teams across the whole SCFT area, and who are motivated, conscientious and committed to supporting us to maintain high vaccination coverage across Sussex.

The role requires core working hours of 8am-4pm, with flexibility at either end of the day for packing of vaccines and clinic cover, on a rota basis within the team.

All team members support the whole of the SCFT Immunisation Service, so you must be a car owner/driver and be willing to travel to clinics and schools across Sussex.

Interview date: 7 October 2020

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.
