Apprenticeship summary
Working week 5 days per week, including Saturday, starting at 11:00 am with 1 hour for lunch. Finishing time to be confirmed Total hours per week: 30.00
Expected duration is 12 months
Possible start date, 15 Nov 2020
Apprenticeship level: Intermediate Level 2 (GCSE)
We are seeking a candidate who will be assisting our chef with all aspects of catering provision, from catering to our guests in our NightShelter to fine dining. Our menu changes on a daily basis.
Duties include:
- Liaising with volunteer waiting staff
- Plating
- Chopping vegetables
- Preparing salads
- Preparing puddings
- Pot washing
- Kitchen hygiene
- Wiping surfacing
Our hot meals are normally plated, however due to the current COVID situation, all of our hot meals are transferred to containers.
Requirements and prospects Desired skills
Simple chopping skills.
Personal qualities
- Hard-working and willing to follow instruction
- Friendly and courteous at all times, especially to guests at our events, with a positive attitude towards the Christian religion and the Church of England
Desired qualifications
GCSE or equivalent English and maths or working towards.
Future prospects
It is hoped that there will be a full time job once the apprenticeship has been completed.

Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. It is the college for our City and our region and draws on 150 years of heritage, history and experience.
