Job Details

We’re looking for someone to join our Finance team as an Assistant Group Accountant (Management Reporting) in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.
 
The Management Reporting team drives delivery of all internal management reporting around the group, ensuring timely reporting to Finance Leadership, boards and committees with appropriate levels of commentary. Your role will form a central part of this team in providing insightful reporting and analysis to support and challenge decision making, and to connect the board and senior leadership with business performance.
 
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:

  • be studying towards an accounting qualification
  • have previous experience in an insurance or financial services company and involvement in management reporting to board level (preferred)
  • have good time management and organisation skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines

 
Job responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts for P&L, balance sheet and cash flows including month on month movement commentary on key movements
  • Supporting the monthly Group ExCo reporting cycle to ensure it’s well managed, with clear timetables and monitoring of deliverables
  • Assisting in the creation of the monthly key metrics for ExCo and board reporting ensuring accuracy of inputs and insightful commentary working with Finance Business Partnership team
  • High quality and insightful variance analysis and commentary for presentation to Directors, Senior Management and Board
  • Supporting on all finance-related board and committee actions, ensuring suitable Finance team members provide responses on a timely basis
  • Preparation of the monthly cash dashboard reporting ensuring the cash projections are robust and deliver with high accuracy on a timely basis
  • Continuous improvement of existing financial planning processes to satisfy business requirements and support commercial decision making

 
Skills, knowledge & experience

  • Clear and concise communicator so that senior leaders from both finance and non-finance areas can understand the issues quickly and make appropriate business decisions
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with an organised and proactive approach
  • Taking responsibility for tasks and seeing them through to completion with great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Flexible approach to work and adopts a positive attitude
  • Embraces opportunities to develop and learn - shows a great level of self-awareness and drive
  • Possess an inquisitive mind, and is able to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and pursue these through to a resolution
  • Relish the challenge of working to tight deadlines and during periods of pressure
