Caretaker (casual)
Estate and Facilities Management: Accommodation, Development & Planning
Location: Brighton - Grand Parade, Moulsecoomb and Varley Park
Salary: £18,342 to £19,612 pro rata approximately £9.50 per hour
Our Caretakers work flexibly as part of a small, friendly team and play a key role in ensuring a pleasant home environment for our students. We are now looking for a Caretaker who is able to work flexibly to help us out at peak times.
Working across our Moulsecoomb, Grand Parade and Varley Park Halls of Residence, the role will involve general day-to-day maintenance tasks, providing a security presence, general reception-based duties and being a first point of contact for our students and visitors.
You will need experience of resolving basic maintenance issues and of working in an environment where high standards of cleanliness, safety, security and organisation were required. The ability to work as part of a small team is also essential, as is the ability to work with limited supervision and complete tasks independently. An awareness of the issues facing students in an academic environment would also be helpful.
Hours of work will be a combination of early or late shifts and there may be some weekend work depending on business needs/your availability. Information on the nature of a casual contract at the University of Brighton can be found in the casual agreement document below.
