BAME Employment Support Officer

About the role
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are working in partnership with Crawley Borough Council and their Employ Crawley service to offer information, advice, guidance and support to local BAME residents who are unemployed or facing redundancy. Employ Crawley are now looking to recruit a BAME Employment Support Officer on a one year fixed term contract, to be based at the Crawley Town Hall and you will be expected to travel frequently to other locations across Crawley to deliver an outreach service in the community.
This role will empower unemployed Crawley residents and those facing redundancy in the BAME community, by providing Crawley residents with meaningful careers advice and access to intensive employment support and skills training. This will involve coaching, mentoring and tailoring provision to support each person’s individual needs. You will help address any complex barriers to employment, identify transferable skills and alternative career pathways.
You will have a Level 2 IAG Qualification or relevant experience, a good working knowledge of Crawley’s employment and skills landscape and key local partner organisations. You will have the ability to build a strong rapport with a diverse range of people. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to build excellent working relationships with internal and external partners. You will be social media confident with strong presentation skills and the ability to deliver virtual workshops is essential.
Satisfactory clearance of a Basic DBS will be a condition of employment and a driving licence is desirable.

Additional information
This post is fixed term for one year to start as soon as possible, with potential for extension, subject to funding.
This post will be based at the Crawley Town Hall, RH10 1UZ, with frequent travel to other outreach locations within Crawley.
Post holder will be excluded from flexible hours working scheme, due to the needs of the service being covered.
Satisfactory clearance of a Basic Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) will be a condition of employment.
