My government Regulatory client in Brighton are recruiting for a SQL Server DBA / Developer to help them with a huge program of change & digitalisation.

You will be part of the team that helps with a massive Azure based migration project.

Azure experience is preferred but if you haven't formal training with Microsoft Certificates is being offered for the right candidate!

The role is currently home based but when things return to normal you will only need to attend the office 2-3 days a week.


We're looking for someone to deliver and maintain tactical and strategic IT systems to support the business

Design, estimate, implement, plan and test new database systems, as defined by the project portfolio
Provide administration, monitoring, and performance tuning of operational and test database systems
Provide support for production systems by triaging, investigating and fixing defects
Maintain a high standard of data solutions, through code reviews, knowledge sharing, mentoring and process improvementEssential and Desirable Criteria

Deep knowledge of administering and maintaining a SQL Server infrastructure up to SQL Server 2019 including HA/DR, Availability Groups, Change Data Capture / Change Tracking.
Experience and understanding of cloud concepts, Iaas and PaaS database solutions on Microsoft Azure
Experience of investigating and diagnosing technical problems, and performance tuning in complex business systems
Good understanding of extract / transform / load techniques and tools (including SSIS and / or Azure Data Factory), data archiving principles, and capacity planning
Experienced in data analysis, data modelling, database design, database development, and optimisation including normalisation / de-normalisation, indexing, partitioning, T-SQL query tuning / optimisation, designing for concurrency. Development of stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions.
Experience and understanding of the use of Agile methodologies including Database DevOps to plan, develop, test and deliver data solutions.Knowledge of Powershell and C# desirable , as is the Azure experience.
