Research Accountant

Finance Department

Location: Brighton - Moulsecoomb

Salary: £30,942 to £34,804 per annum

Come and join our research accounting team, where you will provide specialist financial advice and support across the University, costing new grants and projects, and tracking the financial performance and compliance of grants and projects. You will be managing the financial aspects of a portfolio of projects, providing advice and support to a wide range of colleagues in order to contribute to the growth in our research portfolio.

The main responsibilities of this role are as follows:

  • The management and coordination of the financial aspects of research grants and contracts
  • The management of research project claims, including investigating and resolving queries
  • The provision of specialist financial advice and support to research colleagues on the post-award financial and project management of all research activity
  • The provision of advice and support to academics and administrative staff in the costing of grant applications and other externally funded projects

You will be at least AAT qualified or have a demonstrable level of commensurate practical experience.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships 

This is a grant-funded scheme which enables companies to access resources and expertise they need to innovate, grow and improve their performance.

KTP enables a highly skilled graduate, known as an Associate, to be employed by the university to work full-time in your company leading a strategic project, with the support of an academic team with expertise relating to the project.  

Projects last between 6 months and 3 years; up to 67% of the project costs are provided by the Technology Strategy Board or another government sponsor.
