Business Administrator Apprentice (Student Voice & Enrichment)

Based at our Hastings town centre campus this is an excellent opportunity to join a leading East Sussex based college for someone who would like a varied role, representing the student body and promoting student matters via the College’s Students’ Union and Student Councils, plus promoting student participation in a wide range of enrichment activities. 

Advanced apprenticeship level: Level 3 Business Administrator

Training to be provided by East Sussex College

East Sussex College will provide the apprenticeship which will include Diploma, Functional Skills,

East Sussex College will ensure Health & Safety, and Equality & Diversity.

State any other training you as an employer would be providing.

Working week: 37 hours per week

Mon – Thu            0830 – 1700 hrs     

Fri                         0830 – 1630 hrs (one hour for lunch)

Expected duration : 18 – 24 Months

This will be an extremely busy role as the successful applicant will be liaising with college staff and students at all levels 

The successful applicant will be involved in the following duties:

  • Being a key spokesperson of the student body at College meetings and ensuring that students receive feedback about the outcomes and progress made
  • Taking the lead in gathering information and feedback on student voice issues and communicating this to students and college management teams
  • Holding weekly drop-in sessions and/or digital forums to provide opportunities for the student body to share current views/concerns and ideas
  • Helping to organise and facilitate campus-based Student Council meetings, promoting the participation of a diverse representation of the student body and the opportunity for students to meet and build their campus community
  • Collating the student body’s priorities for change and working with the Students’ Union Executive to develop new ideas and recommendations for College Management regarding these changes
  • Producing a ‘You Said we Did’ for students to update them on progress made with the priorities for change
  • Supporting the Student Services Team Leader to develop a student enrichment programme of social, sporting, health and wellbeing activities and events which will help to develop a strong campus student community
  • Promoting student participation in student enrichment activities
  • Helping the Student Services Team Leader to monitor participation in student enrichment activities and ensuring that all students can get involved
  • Attending college events and supporting open evenings and parent evenings
  • Working closely and collaborating with the other Student Presidents at our Eastbourne and Lewes Campuses to ensure parity across the Group.

Full training will be given.

East Sussex College are the Training Provider for this apprenticeship

GCSE English & Maths grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent qualifications) desirable

Future prospects:

Potential permanent full-time employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship

Things to consider:

The successful candidate must be comfortable in dealing with people.

The post holder will be subject to a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check.
