Vacancy description

The employer will be interviewing throughout the advertisement period so the apprenticeship could begin before the closing date.

The key tasks as part of the job role will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Helping registered practitioners to deliver healthcare services under their direct or indirect supervision
  • Providing compassionate healthcare following standards and protocols
  • Working in partnership with families, careers, individuals, and other service providers
  • Promoting physical and mental health and wellbeing, providing opportunistic brief advice on health and wellbeing
  • Assisting with an individual’s overall comfort, identifying, and responding to signs of pain or discomfort
  • Recognising issues and deteriorations in mental and physical health, reporting and responding appropriately, supporting others to do so
  • Using a range of techniques for infection prevention and control, eg waste management, spillage, hand washing, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safeguarding and protecting adults and children; promoting the principles to others
  • Promoting and follow safe working practices.

Desired qualifications

A previous Health & Social Care based qualification (such as Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship) or experience in a similar job role would be beneficial. This is an advanced apprenticeship, and the job role will reflect this.

GCSEs at grades C or above, or 4 and above, or equivalent are desired. The successful apprentice will be required to undertake an initial assessment in maths and English to gauge their current working level.

Things to consider

  • This apprenticeship is completely based in the workplace. Instead of coming into college you will have a face to face or remote appointment with your assessor every 4-6 weeks. You would only need to attend college should you need to take any maths and English Functional Skills exams. 20% of your contracted working hours will be spent on training.

  • Apprenticeship Certificate (Pass or Distinction)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade D-E or level 3-2) unless exempt.
